Lufthansa First Class Terminal
Two minutes to get outside and four minutes to the FCT, a lot faster than trying to navigate around the crazy labyrinth that is FRA and find a lounge.
Note: File pic from another visit, hence the leaves. First stop was breakfast.
But then ten minutes later, lunch was available. Ah, what the heck.
The chicken tikka masala was sensational. I should have just continued to eat and forget about eating on our flight.
After lunch, nap-time for Mrs. SFO.
I set up in one of the computer/quiet rooms, organize our TaxFree receipts and ask for our PA (aka Broom Hilda) to summon the Zoll/Customs crew and yes I realize it will cost me 75€.
And this is when our day with Lufthansa turned south quickly. Broom Hilda first insisted that since we only had carry-ons, customs wouldn't come since I could "pass the goods to someone who was not departing on an international flight". I kid you not. When I informed her that we never check luggage and I have done this drill before, she insisted I was wrong.
She then suggested that Mrs. SFO and I leave and go to the First Class Lounge in the B terminal, "which by the way is more convenient than walking to the Terminal". By that point, I'd pretty much had it with her. My response was along the lines of "My wife is sleeping, there is no way we are schlepping over to another terminal because you don't know the drill. Find someone that knows how the system works here."
Three minutes later she return to inform me that "Vee are both right". Huh? "The policy is as I thought, but it is not followed in the First Class Terminal. Customs makes an exception for customers in the First Class Terminal. I guess that is what the 75 euro fee is for." Duh! OMG. And ten minutes later, the Zoll agents show up and routinely stamp the TaxFree forms. I pay Broom Hilda the 75€.
Now you would think that this would have been the end of it... but no. Broom Hilda once again tries to discourage us from coming to the First Class Terminal. "Next time, just go to the First Class Lounge in the B terminal. It is more convenient and they drive also you to your plane". Whatever.
Mercifully, I don't see her for another 40 minutes. At about T-25, Broom Hilda returns to inform us that "it is time to go".
