DXB Emirates First Class Lounge B

DXB Emirates First Class Lounge B
Temporary Lounge - December 2020

Heading home.

We left the hotel at 6am and our Uber dropped us off at 6:30am at what appeared to be the First & Business Class check-in area.  Unlike SQ, EY, AF and others, not very impressive or very First Class.   This was downright chaotic and annoying.  There were separate First Class check-in counter but to get there you have to queue with the masses for pre check-in security questioning.  Did you pack your own bags?  Have they been in your possession?  Blah, blah.

Then the long, long walk to the real security with the only advantage of Smart Gates being a somewhat shorter queue.

The Economy security setup, which was definitely closer and more convenient to the B gates.

The real Emirates First Class Lounges are currently closed but there is a temporary First Class area in the B Business Class Lounge.  The entrance is another 100 meters past the Business entrance.

Another 100 meters inside is the First Class lounge area, a lovely but rermote oasis.

Unfortunatelty, it took a ridiculous 45 minutes to get here from our arrival.   Our first glass of champagne of the day, a nice not extravagent Moet et Chandon Brut Rosé.

But then, making a rounds of the wine selections, batmandds made the discovery of the trip... a 2014 Eisele Cab.

With that discovery, it was game over.  OMG, one of the most amazing cabs I have ever tasted.

And only $550 a bottle.

We did our best to polish off the bottle but didn't quite succeed as we had to get to the gate before boarding closed.

March 2015

We checked in, dropped our bags, refreshed up and headed down one level to the Emirates First Class Lounge.  It's the old FLC but still very nice and with a wonderful staff.

And for the grandkids next time.  ;)

The smoking section of the lounge.

Food options are by menu or buffet, available 24 hours a day.  We opted for the buffet tonight.   Amazing food options.

After our meal, we headed down one level to the main concourse to explore. Like the Terminal and concourse itself, everything is open 24 hours a day.

We went up to our room for a little sleep and shower.  And returned at 2AM where the place was a busy as at 8PM.

After Mrs. SFO got her Starbucks fix, we headed back up to the FCL for breakfast.

October 2013

After an ungodly 5AM wake-up call, we were downstairs by 6AM where our Emirates limo was waiting for us. No traffic this morning and we arrived at DXB about 20 minutes later. Separate entrance for First and Business.

Unless I missed something, no special treatment for First Class as everyone is all lumped together in this cavernous facility. I had OLCI'd and printed our boarding passes at the hotel so we headed for security, or what passes for security here.

6:45AM and this place is busy.

With a B15 departure, we head for the old First Class Lounge.

Pleasant staff but once again, the EK/AS partnership is a work in progress. Dragon pecked away on her keyboard and, despite our boarding passes, tells me she can't find our reservation. "Are you in Business Class?" "Are you using an upgrade?" Seriously, what kind of idiotic systems are they using? Eventually she says everything is OK and welcomes us in. Not as cavernous as the new FCL, but this one actually seems a little more manageable.
