My first time in YYZ's Terminal 1. Meh, not so good.
Confusing signage to the uninitiated. D gates or E gates? Electronic signs are useless as they simply tell you the check-in aisle. Apparently, they forgot about those of us that OLCI. I had to ask a LH representative which gate and security entrance. Priority security lane was closed although there were only a handful of other pax here at the time I went thru. And a long, long, long walk to international pier of gates.
After a couple of hours in the MLL, I walked down to the LH gate. Yikes, what a terribly designed departure and gate area. Reasonably attractive retail areas but there is simply way too little gate seating and too narrow corridors between the gates and retail. Brilliant architects forgot that pax queue before the gate opens for boarding. Add to the mix double gate positions too close for anything but chaos when two big flights board right beside each other at the same time, like AC's 777 to LHR and my LH 744 to FRA.
Tough to get to the Priority Lane and forget about trying to pre-board F pax. As bad as T1 is, the LH staff (not sure whether they were contract or not) is useless. Chaotic boarding process first with the wheel chair brigade then other challenged pax. Next up a Priority call that included just about every possible non-kettle group. I elbowed my way towards the Priority.
Once we finally made it past the gate agent, oops someone forgot to unlock the door to the jetbridge.
Finally up the stairs to heaven in the skies.

WiFi was great tonight. Helps when you don't offer it for free to the entire plane. Duh!
After push, this poor guy stood like this for 10 minutes before we started our taxi.

IFE? Meh, even when it does work, the movie selection is awful.
Roasted chicken thigh with eggplant tomato concassée. Meh.
Marinated grilled vegetables and roasted red pepper sauce. Very nice.
Seared Tuna Tartare, Wasabi Sour cream. Excellent.
Delicious mixed baby lettuce with green apple, walnuts and blue cheese crumble.
The Shrimp Masala stir-fried Kailan Caulifower, basmati rice with cashews and sultanas. Outstanding. And more Reisling.
Selection of excellent cheeses include Oka from Québec.
And a delicious creme brulée to finish.
After dinner, I moved over to bed and slept for nearly 4 hours until we started our descent.
Another wonderful Lufthansa First Class flight.
