Suites 3C and 3D

We arrived at Gate A5 just as boarding was about to start.

Another warm welcome and we headed for our Suites 3C and 3D.   After last night, someone is happy to be going home.

Really?  Seems like a little tacky and something that you might see at a Holiday Inn.  The only thing missing was the tip envelope.

A new month and new year means a new Entertainment Guide.

After take-off, starting the year with a Bloody Mary.

Today's menu...

And wine list...

To start, the Singapore Chicken and Beef Satay.  Delicious as always but darn, the sucker is hard to scoop the sauce with just a tooth pick.

Followed by a glass of Krug.

And showtime!

Delicious bread choices, a cheesy roll and wonderful lavash.   I may have cleaned them out.

The Lobster Medallion was good, much better than yesterday's ex-AKL version, with Baby Spinach and Lemon Mustard Dressing.

Salad of Baby Spinach, Arugula, Frisée, Sun-dried Tomato and Kalamata olive with sesame and soya dressing.

For our main, we Booked the Cook today.  And we both chose the Singapore Chicken Rice, hoping that it would close to the Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice at the Maxwell Food Centre.  It wasn't quite as fabulous but was nevertheless very good.

Yum, yum.  Even better with a Tiger Beer.

For dessert, a delicious selection of Movenpick frozen desserts, passion fruit mango ice cream, panna cotta ice cream, pistachio ice cream with fresh fruit salad.

Another movie and we're approaching Tokyo.

Superb flight with great service and much better food than our AKL-SIN segment.

After a quick trip thru security, we headed for the ANA First Class Lounge, a comfortable lounge an escalator ride above our departure gate.

UA nonstop Dreamliner to Denver.  LOL, sure.  You couldn't pay me.

Very nice food spread.  Much better than my last visit 18 months ago.

Yo grandma.  Guess what?  None of us think your screaming grandkid is cute.

At around T-40, we left the ANA Lounge and headed down the escalator to Gate 45.  Boarding began less than a minute later.

Once again, a private jet bridge just for Suites passengers.

Another warm SQ greeting from a new crew and we were escorted to our Suites.  The cabin crew inquired about Mrs. SFO's arm as the departing crew had informed the new crew about her accident.  We passed on champagne and went with water for our Pre-Departure beverage.   Since we were still on New Zealand time and were still full from our Chicken Rice, we were exhausted and told our FA that we planned to sleep as soon as we were in the air.  With 1A and 1F empty, I requested that we use those are our bedrooms.   The NRT-LAX menu, part of the same menu we received at SIN.  The wine list was identical.

I took an Ambien as we pushed back and 20 minutes after take-off, moved to 1A while Mrs. SFO retired to 1F, the quietest and farthest from the galley.

I slept like a baby and woke up only two hours out from LAX.  Seven hours of sleep and it's 10am in Denver.  Could I dodge jet-lag today??  OK, now I'm hungry.   I decided to have breakfast.

Fruit plate to start.

Yummy yogurt.

And excellent scrambled eggs with sausage.

Looks like we'll be arriving 45 minutes early.

But, Mrs. SFO checked a bag.   And it looks like Priority tag don't mean much in LA.

After retrieving Mrs. SFO's bag, we walked the short distance from TBIT to T4, checked the bag to DEN and headed to a quiet corner in the Admirals Club for a couple of hours.

At around T-50, we headed out to Gate 44 and the bus shuttle to the Bus Terminal, yet another reason to start playing the field.  Nice tour of the LAX tarmac on our ride.

Behold, the AA Bus Terminal.

Apparently AA uses an Escalade to transport CKs or other high value customers.  That would not be me.  LOL.

Dinner

Oh joy.  We have an "emotional support" dog with us today.

And another dog?  Seriously?  The dog was fine unlike the obnoxious owner.

Clueless FA who woke people up while still at the gate to ask their meal selection, "salad with chicken" or "pastrami sandwich". No PDB until the captain announced a mechanical delay and then only after someone asked. In the air, she passed out ramekins of nuts but no drinks. Drinks came 10 minutes later on the meal tray. Chicken turned out to be the pecan crusted chicken which catering forgot to season today. Chocolate mousse cake was tasty.

Naturally, once done, trays sat on tables for close to 15 minutes as FA disappeared into Y to help out there.
On the other hand, she made two passes with mints, although I'm thinking that she forgot that she had already made a first pass.

And then there's dog lady who decided she wanted to chat with the FA and impress her with how often she travels.  Yes, the entire plane hears you and we are so impressed.

A great trip but good to be back home, 9 days after we left.  And our own private train car from the A concourse to baggage claim.  LOL.

Mrs. SFO's bag was off the carousel and we were home 30 minutes later.  And only a little snow on the ground.  What a wonderful trip to a most beautiful part of the world.  Thanks for following along on our trip.  If you like these reports, we'd love it if you would sign up for e-mail alerts from SFO777.com on new trip reports and our upcoming newsletter.   Please click here.
