If you are a foodie and are visiting Lyon or even remotely close to Lyon, a pilgrimage to L'Auberge du Pont de Collonges is an absolute must. I was fortunate to be able to make a reservation for New Years Day at this amazing Michelin 3 star gem. Located just a few miles outside of Lyon just over the Pont Paul Bocuse, we arrived 15 minutes before our 1PM reservation. OK, the exterior is a little kitschy and remininscent of a gingerbread house and the Bocuse name is on everything but inside is a wonderful and elegant setting.
Ready to go.
We were greeted by the doorman who volunteered to take a group photo in front of the doors. Inside, we were met by the maitre d' and prompted escorted to a wonderful corner table on the 2nd floor.
Our wonderful amuse bouche.
Hey, when you are this good, you can put your name on everything. LOL.
For starters, Mrs. SFO had the wonderful vegetable soup.
I decided on the Maine Lobster Salad a la Francaise.
Sensational.
For the main, everyone else ordered the Bresse Chicken in cream sauce.
While I ordered the Filet of Beef Rosini with foie gras and Périgueux sauce.
Simply out-of-this-world. One of the best dishes ever.
Let's go to the Cheese cart with amazing local cheeses.
Palate cleansing pot de creme.
And finally the incredible dessert carts.
And my choice, the incredible Traditional Baba au Rhum.
After lunch, we explored the kitchen, gift shop and wine cellar.
What an amazing experience!
