Our week in Beijing & Shanghai

Our week in Beijing & Shanghai

September 2014

Welcome home. LOL.

No line at the Global Entry kiosks but I check "Yes" and admitted that we were over the personal limit.  Usually not a big deal and we are usually waved thru.  Indeed the first agent just tossed my declaration listing and waved us on.  But apparently first agent didn't mark my receipt properly and GEDWAA (Global Entry d*** with an attitude) banished to secondary.  20 minutes and $148 later, we were off to T-4 to try to get the earlier LAX-DEN flight.  Long story but the bottom line is that after the bus ride to the Gate 44 terminal, we missed the flight by 2 minutes.  So back onto the bus to back to T-4 and 3 hours in the American Flagship Lounge.  Nice and comfy lounge with a meh selection of food.  Certainly better than the Admirals Club but not even close to the offering on the United Global First Lounge.

First Class
oops, make the Economy Class
Seats 2DF

Back onto the lovely AA shuttle bus over to the Gate 44 bus terminal.  Prioirity boarding.

What the hell?  There is no First Class on this plane.  Just all Economy seating, although the first 4-5 rows have extra leg room.

And then there was this guy, who reminded me of Charles Manson.  High as a kite, no doubt off to Denver to get even higher.  Yikes.  Was yapping on the phone the entire time and after the door was closed.  FA had to tell him three times to turn off the phone.   Also, didn't like that we rolled out eyes at him and put on our Bose.

But the best part was yet to come.  At the gate in Denver, he tried to engage us in conversation.   We both ignored the guy and stayed in our seats, Bose on, until everyone was off the plane.   With gate check bags, no need to get off any sooner.  FA apologized for the idiot as did the Captain who told FA that she should have let him know at LAX and he would have tossed him.   Manson wasn't in the jet bridge waiting for his bags but he wasn't done with us.  He wound up stalking us as he came out of the shadows and followed us down one of the moving walkways.  I caught a glimpse peripherally and at the end of the walkway, turn right to a United gate and asked the GA to call security because the guy was stalking.  That scared the crap of the Manson and he ran away never to be seen again.  Wow, that was weird.

Thanks everyone for following our trip.  We really enjoyed China and plan to go back again.
